Lose the Paper Trail
SKOY reusable, biodegradable kitchen towels surpass paper ones
2/24/2009 - Sara Porush
I admit that with four children, including six-year-old triplets, we go through a lot of paper towels in our house. And, given our constant cleanups, we are unfortunately contributing to the 3,000 tons of waste paper towels generated every day in the US. But that has changed since I found SKOY absorbent, biodegradable, and natural multi use cloth. I have been using the cloths for about a month and a half, and here's how they clean up:

Clean Sweep (+) - SKOY is 100% biodegradable because it is made from a natural cotton and wood based cellulose pulp.
- Each cloth has been laundered multiple times with no problems. The cloths do not look brand new anymore (they are a little wrinkly after washing) but still work just as well.
- The cloths pick up a ton! I have used them to wipe up entire cereal bowl spills with only two swipes.
- While I have not had reason to dispose of any of my SKOY Cloths yet, according to the website, they decompose entirely in about five weeks. I hardly need to buy paper towels anymore. I only use them when I work with raw meat or chicken.
- SKOY cloth is a chlorine-free product using water based colors and inks.
- SKOY cloth can be used in place of your sponge, wash cloth or paper towels.
- I ordered a set of four SKOY Cloths for $5.99 plus shipping on the company's website.
Wipe Out (-)- It is made in Europe, requiring longer distance to travel.
The Bottom LineSince beginning to use SKOY cloths, I have slashed my paper towel usage by about 90%. I used to go through a roll of paper towels every day (kids are messy, you know!). Now, I go replace my paper towel roll no more than once every 2-3 weeks. If this product can help a mom of triplets decrease her paper towel usage, then it can work for just about anyone!
